About
The Artist
Sonia Rosado was born in New York City to Puerto Rican parents. Though thousands of miles away from the island, Sonia was immersed in the culture from birth. She learned to cook from her great-grandmother, danced salsa with her mom, and reminisced the "old" days through music with her grandmother. ​"EL PUERTO RICO DE MI ALMA" is an homage to the culture, and the Puerto Rican women who inspired and shaped the woman she is today.
In this limited-edition series of five paintings, Sonia captures her rich heritage through personal vignettes that reflect those things that make Puerto Rico special.

Sonia is a member of the National Puerto Rican Association, which her grandmother founded as a way to preserve the culture and heritage of Puerto Rico. A portion of the sale of each print will be donated to the association, which hosts "bohemias" and an annual gala honoring members of the community.
